Candle Burn Tips and Candle Information

Our guide to getting the best from your candle

  • Trim the wick to approximately 5mm before each burn this will help prolong the life of your candle. This helps with a much cleaner burn and prevents sooting. We use a wick trimmer for this, but scissors also work.
  • On first burn, allow the entire surface to melt (you will sometimes see this referred to as the “melt pool”).  It’s really important when you light your candle for the first time that you can allow it to burn for 2-4 hours or until the full melt pool is reached. This prevents tunnelling where the candle burns down the middle, leaving a large amount of wax on the sides.  It’s normal with some fragrances that the entire surface won’t melt on the first burn but with our candles any remaining wax on the sides will catch up further down the vessel.
  • Limit candle burning to 4 hours at a time. This is really important as burning them longer causes overheating, wick dislodging and potential cracking of glass vessels. Our wicks are held in place with an adhesive tab, when you burn your candle too long, the wax becomes very hot and can dislodge the sticky tab and the wick will fall over.
  • Keep your candle free from debris. Remove any debris such as wick trimmings, matches etc from your wax as they can cause the candle to soot and burn unevenly.  Regular wick trimming helps with this.
  • Use a candle snuffer. Blowing out your candle can cause hot wax to splatter and create a lot of smoke.
  • When cooled, replace the lid to protect the wax and keep the fragrance fresh.

Safety guidelines

  • Never leave a lit candle unattended.
  • Keep lit candles away from children and pets.
  • Never move a burning candle, liquified wax is very hot!
  • Keep lit candles away from drafts
  • Burn candles on an even surface away from flammable items.

Diffuser Burn Tips and Diffuser Information

How to Use

  • Unscrew the lid and remove the seal (protecting surfaces from spillages).
  • Replace the lid and insert all 7 reeds.
  • Spread out the reeds to help air circulate between them.
  • Allow up to 48 hours for full effect.

Our Top Tips for getting the best from your reed diffuser

  • Place your diffuser where there is airflow or passing footfall to aid the spread of scent around your space.
  • Turn your reeds regularly for a boost of scent.
  • Fragrance too strong? Remove some reeds and turn the reeds less frequently.
  • Fragrance too subtle? Situate in a smaller space and turn the reeds more frequently.

Helpful Hints

  • Warmer spaces will cause the fragrance to evaporate more quickly.
  • Larger spaces will require more than one diffuser.

Safety

  • If spillages occur, wipe up both surface and diffuser immediately and wash hands with warm soapy water.
  • Protect surfaces from diffuser oils, especially when flipping reeds.
  • Do not place on uneven or unstable surfaces.
  • Keep out of reach of children and animals.
